Daniel Crockett in England was an integral part in the inspiration for the first switch-foot book and continues to be a part of what switch-foot is all about, with his inspiring surfing, writing, painting and life in general.
This blog has some of his limited print runs of 'Wildering' and 'The Melting Pot' zines that you can look through, and BUY, we highly endorse the content, and are stoked that these printed zines are available to our people.........some interesting writings on 'peak experience' and the 'flow state'...some nice art by Daniel...photos by Daniel and John Eldridge. This site is great, i know it doesnt sound 'surfing' related, but it is more surfing than a lot of the crap that is out there and being readily consumed by the unknowing....check it out,there is plenty of interesting content and contributors to this scene, with people like Tim Baker and Nick Carroll to name 2 of about 30. There are interesting videos, blog entries and all the kinds of stuff we would like to do at switch-foot if we had the time. Enjoy
Click here for a link to this passive protest on December 7th at the old Kirra point. Kirra was once one of the most unique waves in the World, and today is a mediocre beach break, thanks to modern man, pumping sand from the tweed river mouth. The plan is to stop the pumping of sand, and hope that in 20 years Kirra will again be that grinding freight train right hander. Photo here by Dick Hoole.
~~~waves~~~~sharks
The waves have not been that pumping around the East Coast of OZ, more likely have been stories of onshore winds and shark sightings. With the recent 'marine park sanctuary' approval in around Byron Bay a few years ago, today, a Great White shark trolling around the point is a protected species....makes you wonder, what will happen when a tourist or local gets eaten, will they think about catching the sharks or chasing them out to sea then!!!??? reported sightings of great Whites, Tiger sharks and Bronze Whalers. Alex Kopps is an artist, based in Oakland near San Francisco, California. He has been creating a surffilm, called 'displacement' and we are sure you have heard about it? This link takes you to a charity art auction, with about a dozen contributors, and the charity is...making the film. Alex is also a very nice person to surf with... There is some lovely art to view here, and the trailer to his soon to be released film...
Tom has been in the States recently and people are just loving his organic works! Check out this link and the slideshow of Alaia renaissance man, Jacob Stuth, getting a hot little cover up on these finless gems. Jacob Stuth was in switch-foot book one, and we plan to have more words from the man of boo and interesting surfboards in the second book two. Three cheers from Tom and Margie, hip hip.....
Most English surfers would know the name, Stranger magazine fans would too, as would jazz/funk heads in Cornwall....Nick Radford designs the art and jams the tunes with his band Mr Juicy and friends. We are big fans of Nick's art, and the whole Blue Note, Verve feel. There are some links to other places here with some of Radfords tee shirt designs and some....
These guys are seeking financial support to help Surfers Against Sewerage (SAS)... check the website for more on how you can help.
Stu Fergie might be more famous for his didge playing and singing with the band, Oka...but we couldnt help but send the stoke around on his art too.
Cain Pridmore, who has just turned ten, is earning his new boards by doing some cool artwork on some of his Dad's shapes. You can get one of Cain's unique works for a very reasonable price, only $30 when you get a custom MORE Surfboard.
Joke joke joking
A prisoner escapes from a Californian prison where he has been kept for 15 years. As he runs away, he finds a house and breaks into it. He finds a young couple in bed. He gets the guy out of bed, ties him up on a chair and ties the woman to the bed. He gets on top of her, kisses her on the neck, then gets up and goes to the bathroom.
While he's there, the husband tells his wife, 'Listen this guys a prisoner. Look at his clothes! He probably spent a lot of time in prison and hasnt seen a woman in years. I saw the way he kissed you on the neck, so if he wants sex don't resist, don't complain just do what he tells you and satisfy him. This guy must be dangerous. If he gets angry, he might kill us both. Be strong honey. I love you.'
To which, the wife replies, 'He was not kissing my neck. He was whispering in my ear. He told me that he found you very sexy and asked if we kept any vaseline in the bathroom. Be strong honey, i love you too...'
